Our ‘Passport to Fitness’ project was launched at the beginning of March as everyone at The Grange is on a mission to get fit and healthy. The day was great fun with people signing up and collecting their ‘passport’ books and trying out some new sports including riding on the ‘smoothie’ bike! Thanks to a generous grant from Dorking based insurance company Unum we have been able to purchase more sports equipment such as sitting volleyball nets, adjustable basketball hoops, archery, more Boccia equipment and lots of equipment for the pool including an aqua treadmill and an aqua bike! People we support and staff too can join in the sporting activities and collect ink stamps in their own ‘passports’ for taking part in a healthy activity. Once they have acquired enough stamps they will receive certificates and prizes for reaching each target. The scheme will be slowly expanded adding more activities plus encouraging people to make healthy eating choices too.
Keeping with the fitness theme we are delighted that we will have 6 riders in the forthcoming Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 which will take place on 31st July. Please log onto our website to see how you can support the riders it will be great if you can make a donation and perhaps cheer everyone on as they ride around the course.
In March we were extremely grateful to Mike Sharp for embarking on a trip of a lifetime climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and raising a staggering £2065 for us. We are looking forward to welcoming him back to The Grange to recount his adventures soon and to thank him for such an amazing achievement. If you fancy taking on a challenge or holding a fundraising event for The Grange please get in touch we will support you all the way.
