The Friends of the Dawnay School are busy preparing for our Rio Carnival themed May Fair on Sunday 15th May 1.00 – 3.00 pm. We will again be holding our popular bake-off at the May Fair and have many stalls to entertain everyone so we hope the weather stays dry for us. The Friends have recently purchased new outdoor table tennis tables and outdoor football tables and the children have put together a timetable for using them. We are as always very grateful for our parents volunteering their time to put these tables together.
On the last day of term the friends arranged an Easter trail for the whole school with teams of mixed year groups it was a huge success and so lovely to see the older years looking after the younger years.
The Friends then held a huge cake sale after the schools annual Easter hat parade selling all of the fabulous Easter themed cakes that the children had brought to school. The hat parade is a popular Dawnay tradition and the Friends are pleased to support the event and are thrilled that Granary Crafts in the village displayed so many of the childrens hats.
Due to such an amazing response from parents after the cake sale we were also able to deliver left over cakes to Keswick care home and Southey court they were gratefully received.
The Friends also had the privilege of providing refreshments at the schools ‘Alice in Wonderland’ production which was held in the magnificent Barn at Manor Farm.
