At this year’s Barn Hall Crafters’ AGM a new committee was voted in comprising Jan Clark, Chantal Staplehurst, Avril Lovegrove, Eileen Joy, Joan Gibson, Jan Edgcumbe and Jennie Bostock.
New Chairman Jan Edgcumbe said ‘I’d like to thank our retiring Chairman Gennie Hancock for all her hard work and dedication to our Club over the past 5 years. She will be a hard act to follow’.
Jan added ‘we have nearly 40 active members who all enjoy our twice monthly meetings on Tuesday mornings at The Barn Hall where we enjoy learning new skills and techniques from each other. We also we invite outside demonstrators and accomplished speakers’.
Since Christmas we have enjoyed learning about parchment techniques and scarf embellishments and we recently had the pleasure of Isabelle Bunting giving us an inspiring talk on her beading journey & experiences and development of the nationwide Bead Workers’ Guild.
The new Barn Hall Crafters’ committee has been busy putting together its programme of demonstrations for the next quarter which will include making a paper wreath and patterns with mosaics. We are also looking forward to our outing in April to the Stitching, Sewing and Hobby Crafts Show in London and of course our members will soon start preparing for our stall at the Village Day in June.
